Discussion Groups

This year, we will add a new type of session to our program. "Discussion Groups" will be organized to allow participants interested in a specific topic to meet and exchange freely their thoughts, projects and propositions. These sessions will be built "bottom up": any participant who wishes to organize such a discussion group is invited to contact us at chlamy2020@scienceconf.org and propose a topic. Tell us in <50 words what subject you think would be worth discussing at Chlamy 2020, and why. We may receive several similar propositions, in which case we would put you in contact and let you merge your texts. A Discussion Group can be organized jointly by two participants. When accepted by our organization committee, this topic will be advertised on this page, using your summary. Every participant interested to join will be invited to contact you. To make it more profitable to all, we suggest each participant contributes one slide (or two) to illustrate their point. Enough time must be reserved for discussions, and everyone should feel comfortable to express their ideas... keeping in mind that the others also need time to express theirs. So the organizer's will not be such an easy job.

The question of placement in the program is a heartbreaker, as we already have a very dense schedule. For the moment, the best option seems to hold these discussions in the conference room between 2 and 3 PM on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, i.e. during the first hour of the poster sessions. Poster presenters should feel free to participate in these discussions, as they will have ample time to attend their poster throughout the meeting. We're open to other suggestions regarding timing. Of course, we expect that these discussions will be complemented by less formal interactions throughout the meeting. But we hope that the Discussion Groups will allow you to meet people that otherwise you might not have thought were interested in the same questions as you...
